Lysimachos Silver Tetradrachm: Deified Alexander and Enthroned Athena

Struck during the reign of King Lysimachos of Thrace, this Attic-weight silver tetradrachm pairs an expressive obverse portrait of the deified Alexander the Great wearing the ram's horn of Zeus Ammon with an enthroned Athena Nikephoros on the reverse. Although catalogued by the Cleveland Museum of Art under the royal mint of Lysimachia, the coin's distinctive control marks link it to ongoing scholarly discussions regarding regional Propontic and western Asia Minor workshops.
